PDO Thread Lift vs. Surgical Face Lift

Almost 98% of patients that receive a face lift report satisfaction. However, it’s not the only face lift procedure available. There’s Polydioxanone (PDO) Thread Lift (PDO) surgery, too.

Face lifts and PDO leave you looking beautiful and youthful. But there are some differences between the two. Want to know which procedure is right for you?

Read on to learn more.

What Is a Face Lift?

A face lift is a cosmetic surgery procedure that involves correcting the lower part of the face. It does so by removing extra skin around the face that you’d prefer wasn’t there.

It can tighten loose skin from around the jaw. These are known as jowls. Also, it takes away excess fat hanging beneath the skin, and ridges around the mouth and nose.

It usually takes between two and five hours to perform. A small incision is made in the front of the ear rising up to the hairline, and into the scalp area.

The process involves improving the appearance of the cheeks, eyebrows, and forehead. All in all, it works to make you look and feel more attractive. It’s a beauty procedure!

What Is a PDO Thread lift?

PDO procedure involves using sutures that dissolve, tighten and raises your skin. It’s a little safer than a regular face lift, doesn’t require a scalpel, and can be performed in just 45 minutes.

The sutures stimulate collagen production, a protein that allows your face to stretch more, providing elasticity and a glowing appearance. Less collagen is known for making your skin age.

There are three types of PDO threads:

  • Mono threads that revitalize the skin through collagen stimulation
  • Cog threads whereby barbs are fastened onto your skin, making your face secure and raising your face
  • Screw threads, making up one or two interwoven threads to re-establish volume to areas of your skin that have fallen

In the end, you’re left with revitalized skin that looks alluring and makes you look younger.

Face Lift vs. PDO: Which Procedure Is Right for You?

Whichever procedure is right for you is determined by several factors including consultation with your medical team. These include:

  • The time you have
  • Whether you want the easiest procedure performed
  • How do you want your facial skin to appear after?

If you find time to be pressing then PDO threads might be just for you. If you’re looking for a more simple process, a PDO might, once again, be the best form of treatment needed. Depending on some of your own personal requirements, either might be suitable due to the differences.

They both have a few things in common though: you’re left with an improved sense of confidence and a more attractive, youthful-looking face.
